We have been learning to take away from numbers up 20, and have been using counting objects and number lines to help us. Watch us using our playground to practise taking away.

We have been studying the book Charlie Cook's Favourite Book. Our outdoor activities have linked to the story and we have enjoyed reenacting some of the pages from the book. We have been writing some simple sentences, trying to focus on using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We have had a great start to year 1, getting to know our new teachers and finding our way in our new classrooms. Today, we spent our first time in the outdoor learning area. We really enjoyed being outside and exploring, and look forward to exploring even more of our outdoor learning spaces. We have had a wonderful year with Ladybird and Butterfly class.
Thank you so much to all parents who have helped and supported their children throughout the year. Love the Early Years Team xx We really enjoyed watching the life cycle of a butterfly in our classroom over the past few weeks. We have watched every stage and the best bit was when the butterflies hatched out of their chrysalis. We then collected and gave the butterflies cut up apple, banana and orange as well as flowers. We had to put a sugar and water solution over everything so they had enough food to survive. last Friday they were ready to be released. Here are our photos. What an amazing experience! We have been learning all about forces. We have been looking at pushes and pulls and how by using that force we can move something or change the shape. See if your child can discuss with you the number of ways they use these forces in their every day routine! We realised we use them all the time. We hope you enjoy our pictures. It's been great fun exploring capacity in the water area this week! The children decided to make the water travel around the outdoor classroom. They had to work together to work out how it would travel and what they would use to contain it. |
